OpenAI
Sora was OpenAI's text-to-video model that generated video clips from text prompts. Released in December 2024 for ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, it could create videos up to one minute long with coherent motion and detailed scenes. A second generation, Sora 2, launched in September 2025 with an iOS app, Android app, and social media features. The service was discontinued in April 2026, with the app shutting down on April 26 and the API planned for closure on September 24, 2026.
